Question by Blake Staffenport: What is the jewish prayer that expresses gratitude for being alive?
Or maybe something that people say during ‘first times’ that expresses gratitude for living to see such good things?
I’m Christian but I heard a Jewish friend talking about it and wanted to read more about it.

That would have to be “She-hechiyanu”.
It is said as you described, in gratitude for living to see good things happen. It’s also said annually at the beginning of each of our holidays/festivals. We also say it on eating the first taste of a seasonal fruit we haven’t tasted in a long time (a year).
“Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, Ruler of the Universe, who has granted us life, sustained us and
enabled us to reach this occasion.”
